When using the Organization database, SKUs and their categories are uploaded like this example:

SKU ------ Category
DV_MATA 1000
DV_MATA 1110
DV_MATA 1500
DV_MATA 5000
DV_MATA 5300

That's ok, but it does present a couple of problems. First, you have to enter multiple lines for each of your sku's, in order to put them into multiple categories and/or sub-categories. That can make 5000 rows into 15,000 rows or more for me.

Secondly, it makes for difficulties when using the eBay manager, since the manager places sku's into the first associated category it sees in the Organization database. Most users would prefer to see items in their primary categories in the eBay manager.

So, here's the suggestion. I think it would be much easier for both the store listings and the eBay import if the Organization database was set up this way, with a single line for each SKU:

SKU, Primary Cat, Cat 2, Cat 3, ....
DV_MATA, 5000, 5300, 1000, ...
T_WEX33, 1000, 5000, 5100, ...

(Notice that both example SKUs share categories 1000 and 5000, but they are not the primary category for each. For that reason, sorting by category number doesn't work.)

Benefits (in my opinion! Smile )
> Way easier to make the table in the first place.
> Easier to sort, with better sort options.
> Much better for importing to the eBay manager, because for instance, all DVD's would be shown in the highest level DVD category, rather than randomly in various subcategories or even totally different categories.

bumping this topic...

Is this in the works, or will this ever be done?

The most important feature of this I think, is the idea of a primary category. So, items you place in sales channels like eBay will be shown in their most important category.
