Any tips/recommendation/opinions on how to make webpages that also print nicely?

Create a "print" template for with the "fluff" removed.

headers/master.print.html
footers/master.print.html
displays/store.print.html
etc...

then append this to your url &template=print when you link to it

I've been trying to create print templates for our site and have hit a snag when it comes to pages where he url is not in the category.cgi?category=page format. For example I just created blank headers/master.print.html and footers/master.print.html files but its only being applied to the category pages, sort of. For example when I do cgi-bin/tracker.cgi?order_id=ID&template=print it still prints the footer, oddly it doesn't print the header, which is good, but I can't figure out how to get rid of the footer. Is there documentation on this? Or can someone give a overview on how to get this to work?

How about just using a CSS media type of "print"?

True, that will work. I just placed a div around the content, hide everything except that div, then absolutely positioned it to the top left corner. Things still print a little funny at times but it's better than all our header and footer stuff printing.
